Jenny L. Collins
Director of Bands


Ms. Jenny L. Collins has taught for the past eleven years in the Kentucky, Kansas and South Carolina schools.  Ms. Collins received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Morehead State University where she studied saxophone performance with Mr. Eugene Norden and conducting with Dr. Richard Miles.   She earned her Master of Music Education degree from Wichita State University where she studied saxophone performance with Ms. Jean Lansing and conducting with Dr. Victor Markovich.  Ms. Collins is currently pursuing a Master of Education Administration at Charleston Southern University.  

Ms. Collins is the Director of Bands at Goose Creek High School where her bands have received superior ratings, participated in the South Carolina Band Directors state marching band championship, and earned the Outstanding Performance Award for overall program excellence.  She serves on the school leadership team and is the Berkeley Center for the Arts Lead Teacher.

 For the past ten years, Ms. Collins has been the principal saxophonist in the Sacred Winds Ensemble, a group of professional musicians who commission and perform sacred works for band each summer.  She has been a guest performer and clinician throughout Kentucky and currently teaches saxophone privately in the Charleston area.   Her professional affiliations include the Women Band Directors International Association, the North American Saxophone Alliance, the South Carolina Band Directors Association, the Music Education National Convention, Sigma Alpha Iota Professional Music Fraternity and Tau Beta Sigma Band Sorority.

Kevin Gossett
Band Director
Sedgefield Middle School

Sedfield Middle School Teacher of the Year 2009

Kevin Gossett is in his fifth year as director of bands at Sedgefield Middle School, and has taught instrumental music for fourteen years. He is also currently serving as assistant marching band director at Goose Creek High School. Mr. Gossett holds a B.Mus. Ed. degree from Furman University and a M. Tuba Performance from Northwestern University in Chicago.

He has also taught at Berea High School in Greenville, SC; Stall High School and Alice Birney Middle School in North Charleston, SC; and James Island Middle School. He has served as audition coordinator of the Berkeley and Charleston All County Bands, as a member of the All State and Concert Festival Committees and as chairman of the Southern regional site of the High School Concert Festival of the South Carolina Band Directors Association.  Currently, he is Lead Teacher for Band in Berkeley County.  His bands have received excellent and superior ratings and have regularly seated students in the All County, All Region, and All State Bands.

Mr. Gossett is Choir Director of the Dorchester Presbyterian Church, a professional tubist and bassist, a member of South Carolina Band Directors Association and Music Educators National Conference. He is married to Jennifer Gossett, director of bands at Bishop England High School in Charleston, SC, and has two sons, Andrew and Ethan.
